Agricenter Pavilion and Auditorium Renovation | Memphis, TN
SERVICES:
Architecture
Pickering Firm, Inc. partnered with Agricenter International to reimagine and reinvigorate one of the organization’s most visible and frequently visited facilities. The renovation focused on enhancing functionality, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience while honoring the Agricenter’s role as a regional hub for agricultural innovation and community events.
Three key areas guided the design and construction:
Restroom Upgrades and Additions:
Outdated restroom facilities were modernized and expanded to better accommodate event crowds and improve accessibility and comfort for all visitors.Auditorium Renovation:
Once underutilized, the auditorium was transformed into a flexible, welcoming space capable of hosting a variety of events and presentations. With upgraded finishes, lighting, and acoustics, the venue now rivals other local performance spaces, such as GPAC, providing Agricenter with a revitalized community asset.New Entry and Pavilion:
The project introduced a new, clearly defined main entrance and a connecting canopy structure that links the two primary buildings. This new pavilion not only provides a sheltered pathway between spaces but also serves as an inviting point of arrival for visitors. The enhanced entry sequence improves circulation and wayfinding, and the pavilion has already generated interest as a potential venue for special events, including wedding receptions.
Through thoughtful design and practical improvements, Pickering helped Agricenter International elevate the functionality, visibility, and appeal of its facilities—ensuring they continue to serve the community for decades to come.
